Half way between Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica, an asphalted road takes one to the district with the heavenly sounding name of Paradiso. For the last 500 metres one must take a track to arrive at Agro di San Paolo Piccolo. In a completely singular location, in an oasis of quiet and nature, the Tenuta La Quercia welcomes you. On an estate of 8 hectares, one finds pines and palms, prickly pears here and there, flourishing oleanders and purple bougainvillea; fruit orchards with pears and figs that patiently wait to be picked. Between the tracts of land one sees characteristic dry stone walls whose colour is a mixture of white, terracotta and dark grey. Beside the farmhouse there is a majestic oak tree, from which the residence has taken its name and which offers its shade.
On the terrace of local stone in front of the entrance of the house, a beautiful lentisco plant has found its home. From the terrace one enters directly the large dining room with an annexed lounge conceived in rustic style totalling 55 square metres. As part of the renovation work, the old floor and the original vaulted ceiling have been conserved. In the front part, in the living area one finds a sofa and a fireplace. A charming place for the late autumn or winter. At the centre of the dining room, there is a long heavy wooden table with benches where one can spend evenings sampling culinary specialities, enjoying candle-lit sensual moments. Lots of antique pieces of furniture, personal souvenirs, typical decorative elements and stone walls characterise this type of rural ambience. Old Puglian ceramics and a collection of copper pots and pans add to the charm of the property. At the side of the house one finds the small kitchen (with fridge, sink, gas hob and toaster. For space reasons the crockery is stored in the dining area).
Tenuta La Quercia, built in the 1940’s, is a symbiosis between a traditional farmhouse and the comfort of modern living.
The villa, with a living area of in total about 180 square metres, has recently been extended at the front with the building of 3 en-suite bedrooms. (Another extension has yet to be completed). For the guests, there are 2 triple and one double room available. In the latter (smaller room), if need be, another bed may be added. Here, 6 to 8 or even 9 people can be accommodated. The typical stone walls of the rooms and the far-reaching views of greenery are very characteristic. The bedrooms can be heated: the windows have mosquito protection screens. Every room has its own bathroom. The three bathrooms are new and all set up in the same style – with shower, wall-hung bidets and hand basins and heated towel rails.
The exterior part of the property has garden furniture. Around the barbecue and wood-burning oven (pizza), one can spend beautiful evenings in the company of family and good friends. The son of the property owner lives in an individual apartment, with private access, in the building the Tenuta la Quercia. In the case of guests having requests or needs during the period of their holiday, he is available.
The farmhouse radiates a pleasant rural charm; it is perfect for those in pursuit of peace who love nature. Lets have a picnic!
