Directly adjacent to the picturesque historical centre of the White City of Ostuni, there is the Casa del Gelsomino (Jasmine House). As one can deduce from its name, the residence is surrounded by tendrils of aromatic jasmine that intertwine lovingly with the purple colours of bougainvillea. The holiday apartment, that in effect constitutes a complete corner dwelling from sky to ground, is located in a rather tranquil area of the centre. The sixteenth century city wall as well as the city square is just a few steps away.
The living area, spacious and accurately renovated, is found on the first floor of the house. The piece de resistance are the original vaulted ceilings and columns that accentuate the charm of the natural stone. Also the antique tiles that proudly display their floral patterns have been left intact, in full respect to the history of the home. The interesting marriage between old decor and modern comforts make the Casa del Gelsomino very charming and welcoming. The open plan kitchen with its soft colours blends harmoniously with the historical atmosphere. The sofa-bed offers if required, the possibility of sleeping space for an additional two people. The bathroom with a shower is rather small.
By way of a staircase one reaches the sleeping area where there is a double bed. Also in this part of the house one finds the old vaulted ceilings that reveal the original stone. The double bed fits almost perfectly into a corner. From here one directly reaches the terrace of the house. Also not having been yet renovated (apart from the railing), the guest is rewarded with a splendid view. The view consists of an area of old whitewashed houses of the historical centre, by way of the orange grove that one finds behind the Cinema Roma and the sweet green hills of the nearby countryside. Two sunbeds already promise one a relaxing pause in the open air. Inthe evening, in candle light, the terrace creates a particular atmosphere.
